From Cape to Big 5 is a unique program offering all the best of South Africa, on the one hand the beautiful nature of the Cape and on the other hand the real Wildlife.

This spectacular 16-day trip is unique because it's 100% malaria-free, no domestic flights or huge driving distances, and last but not least, affordable. And still, this program offers the opportunity to meet the 'Big 5': the Elephant, Lion, Cheetah, Buffalo and Rhino, in their natural environment.

ONS GENOT is a luxury guest house with all the comfort to spoil our guests, it's a unique hub to discover the Cape. From here, we do most of our day-trips. For our search to the 'Big 5', we make a trip of 7 days along the Garden Route until past Port Elizabeth, where we will discover the big wildlife. During this trip, we will stay in similar luxury accommodation places.

1. Tag
Ankunft in Kapstadt.
Begrüßung und Transfer zu Ons Genot in Stellenbosch, im Herzen der Winelands.

Stellenbosch ist die schönste Stadt Südafrikas. Erholen Sie sich bei einem Begrüßungstrunk von der Reise.

Der Rest des Vormittags steht zu Ihrer freien Verfügung, Sie können auspacken und sich entspannen. Mittgessen in Ons Genot.

Am Nachmittag Besuch des historischen Weingutes Vergelegen in Somerset West. Spaziergang durch die historische Altstadt von Stellenbosch, wo Sie die weißgekalkte Holländische Architektur des Kap sehen können.
2. Tag
Nach dem Frühstück Abfahrt zur V&A Waterfront nahe dem Hafen von Kapstadt.

Besuch von Robben Island mit dem Gefängnis, in dem Mister Nelson Mandela, Präsident von Südafrika, lange Jahre gefangen gehalten wurde.

Mittagessen und Geschäftebummel im Waterfront Shopping Centre, dem größten Einkaufszentrum Südafrikas.
3. Tag
Abfahrt nach Kirstenbosch in Kapstadt, einem der erlesensten Gärten der Welt. Genießen Sie hier Ihr Frühstück und berauschen Sie Ihre Sinne mit einem Spaziergang durch die exotische Pflanzen- und Blumenwelt.

>Mit dem Cable Car fahren wir auf den Tafelberg, danach besichtigen wir Groot Constantia, das älteste Weingut Südafrikas, wo wir auch das Mittagessen einnehmen.

Fahrt durch Constantia, wo Kapstadts Millionäre leben. Rückfahrt zu Ons Genot, wo ein Abschiedsdinner auf Sie wartet.
4. Tag


 Nach einem zeitigen Frühstück Aufbruch nach Hermanus, der "Riviera" Südafrikas. Fahrt entlang Gordon's Bay, Sir Lowry's Pass, Pringle Bay und Betty's Bay.

Mittagessen in Hermanus, nahe der Lagune, im Bientang Restaurant, das auf einem Felsen im Indischen Ozean erbaut ist.

Besuch des Voelklip Naturreservats und - abhängig von der Jahreszeit - können Sie auch Waale beobachten. Im Hemel-en-Aarde Valley Besichtigung von Hamilton Russell, dem östlichsten Weingut des Landes.
5. Tag
Nach dem Frühstück werden Sie die südafrikanischen Weine kennenlernen.

Zunächst besuchen Sie Weingüter in der Gegend von Stellenbosch, danach fahren Sie nach Paarl zu Weinproben auf den weltberühmten KWV, Nederburg oder Rheebokskloof Weingütern. Auf Paarl Mountain besichtigen Sie das Denkmal des Afrikaans.

Unser Mittagessen nehmen wir auf Ruitersvlei ein, einem Gut in der Nähe von Fairview.

Besuchen Sie Franschhoek im Drakenstein Valley, wo französiche Hugenotten sich 1680 angesiedelt und das südafrikanische Weinerbe begründet haben. Sie können zwischen einer Besichtigung der Weingüter Boschendal und L'Ormarins wählen, oder auch ihre Zeit zu einem Spaziergang durch Franschhoek nutzen.

Knysna

After an early breakfast we leave Ons Genot for our 5-day trip in search of the 'Big 5'. Today we make a connection drive until Knysna(460km), the heart of the Garden Route. On the way we can stop at Swellendam, after Cape Town and Stellenbosch, the oldest town of South Africa, or at Mosselbay, well known for its gas and oil fields and the many Aloe-vera plantations. We can also visit here the historical Post Tree, used befor by the sailors as postbox.

Next we drive through the Lake District until Knysna.

We will spent the night at a cosy lodge in the middle of this beautiful nature. Dinner will also be served here.

Knysna

Today we will spend the day in and around Knysna.

Knysna is the scenic climax of the Garden Route, a unique combination of ocean and forests. A visit to the 'Heads' and a taste of the local Oysters is highly recommended.

We will spent the night at the same cosy lodge as the day before. Dinner will also be served here.

8. Tag

Today we will continue our way until past Port Elizabeth, where we are expected at lunch time at the Lalibela Game Reserve(360km) for a guided safari, preceded by a lunch. We will get here a first and unique occasion to admire the 'Big 5'.

After the safari we drive towards Addo-Kirkwoord(120km) where we will have dinner and spent the night at Lodge Kronenhoff.

Addo

Today we are on search again for big game, this time we visit the Addo National Elephant Park. We spent here the whole day by self-drive. This unique park is world-famous for its large population of elephants. But watch also out for the Rhinos and Buffalos as well as the large variety of 'Boks'.

We spent anothe night at Lodge Kronenhoff.

10. Tag

Today we return into the direction of the Garden Route until the area of Plettenberg Bay (400km).

For the surf freaks however there is no excuse to make a detour along Jeffreys Bay, the mecca of Surfers, with factoryshops of labels like Billabong, Quicksilver, Roxy,...

We enjoy dinner and spent the night at Lilly Pond Country Lodge.

Today we visit the beautiful nature of the Plettenberg area.

We can visit the magnificent beaches of Nature’s Valley or we can drive a few kilometres further to visit the Ksitsikamma Nature Reserve, a magnificient area along the Indian Ocean at the mouth of the Storm river, which we cross via the wooden suspension-bridge.

Monkey land is also worth to visit

We enjoy dinner and spent the night at the same lodge as the day before.

Oudtshoorn

Oudtshoorn

We continue our way back towards Oudtshoorn(400km), the centre of ostriches. We drive through the inland along unforgettable scenery and pass by picturesque villages like Uniondale, De Rust and Prince Albert.

Befor we enter Oudtshoorn, we must climb the Swartberg, a literal and figurative absolute climax of the day.

If there is still some time left, we can visit the Cango Caves or an ostrich farm.

We will spent the night in Oudtshoorn at ...where we will also have dinner.

After a short visit of Oudtshoorn, wre continue the road direction of Stellenbosch(400km) using the well-known Route 62. A unique variation of scenery and typical villages like Calitzdorp, Ladysmith, Montagu, known for the hot water springs, and Robertson, one of the better wine areas.

Via Worcester and DuToitskloof pas or tunnel we arrive again at Ons Genot.

Finally, home again where we will spent the night.

 Nach dem Frühstück werden Sie den Höhepunkt Ihres Aufenthaltes erleben, die Halbinsel Tour - die Erfahrung Ihres Lebens! Ein einzigartiger Ausflug in die Natur entlang des Atlantischen Ozeans.

Fahrt durch Sea Point, Clifton, Camps Bay, mit Aufenthalt in Hout Bay. Wenn es das Wetter erlaubt, fahren wir mit dem Boot zu Duiker's Eiland, wo Sie Hunderte von Seehunden sehen können. Danach Besuch der Vogelwelt und Fahrt über den atemberaubenden Chapman's Park Pass zum Naturreservat am Kap der Guten Hoffnung. Dieses Naturreservat beheimatet eine der reichsten botanischen Sorten der Welt. Erleben Sie Cape Point, wo der Atlantische und der Indische Ozean aufeinandertreffen. Sie werden hier auch "Baboons" sehen.

Mittagessen.

Bei Miller's Point in Simonstown, einem kleinen Seehafen mit viktorianischer Architektur, können Sie Jackass Pinguine sehen. Rückfahrt zu Ons Genot über Boyes Drive und Muizenberg.
15. Tag

After breakfast you will visit Cape Town. A charming town with small white houses, beautiful parks and gardens. Visit the cultural-historical museum, the Parliament Buildings, St George's Cathedral, Compagnie's Garden and the Bo-Kaap.

After lunch we will go back into the recent history of Cape Town, namely the Apartheid era with a visit at District Six and 1 of the many Townships.
16. Tag

Today we first pack our suit-cases and before we leave for the airport for our return flight, we still have some time for a visit to a wine estate in the area do some shopping or to relax at the swimming pool. Alternatively, we can visit Bloubergstrand, the postcard beach with magnificient views over Table Mountain!..
